Monday, June 15
Great Symbols: Landmarks and Memorials of the Nation’s Capital

• Morning Mass and Escorted VIP Tour of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception - the largest Catholic church in the United States
• Lunch at the National Mall - includes time to explore the Museums of the Smithsonian Institute
• Memorial Tours – Lincoln, Korean War, and Vietnam War Memorials
• Night Tour – the WWII, Jefferson, and FDR Memorials (follows dinner)

Tuesday, June 16
The Fourth Estate: Policy and the National Media

• A Morning in the Newseum – Washington, D.C.’s newest and the World’s Most Interactive news museum
• News Media Outlets – visit one of many in our nation’s capital
• Keynote Speaking Event – interactive discussion with a Washington area media expert (follows dinner)
 

Wednesday, June 17
Baltimore: The Charm City and the Birthplace of the American Catholic Church

• Catholicism’s Roots in America - day trip to Baltimore, MD; the early days of Catholicism in the United States; the Baltimore Basilica, America’s First Cathedral
• Inner Harbor - lunch, shopping, and free time in historic district
• Sports in the Capital - cheer for a local team at one of Washington’s professional sporting events (*2009 Summer Schedules TBA)

Thursday, June 18
Capitol Hill: Seat of our Democracy

• Congressional Visits – prearranged office appointments with U.S. Senators and Representatives
• Tours of “The Hill” - U.S. Capitol Building, the Library of Congress, and the newly-opened U.S. Capitol Visitor Center
• Legislation in Action - Committee Hearing or the House and Senate Galleries (dinner follows)

Friday, June 19
Our Community: Service Learning Project

• Day of Community Service – in conjunction with the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C. and the Diocese of Arlington, VA (lunch provided)
• Farewell to Washington, D.C. – a final evening of dinner, music, and dancing

Saturday, June 20
Depart for Home
