WHY CHINA?
A new Peoples Republic of China debuted to the world at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Spectacular in orchestration, the Summer Games pulled back the curtain on the technological, cultural, economic, and artistic revolutions embraced by the Middle Kingdom in the 21st Century. With a 5000 year tradition fueling its rise, China today offers a glimpse of the international lifestyle it will share with the globe for centuries to come.
WHY US?
The Global Awareness Seminar Series: China provides you the experience of a lifetime - a valuable chance to see and live China as a young global citizen. For fourteen days this summer, explore a Middle Kingdom redesigned for the International Century. While traveling, discover for yourself a future that prefers bridges to borders.
With Global Awareness: China, curious and prepared high school students will visit four different Chinese cities, modern and ancient; meet government officials, business executives, scholars, scientists, and everyday citizens; travel valleys by bullet train and roads by rickshaw; trek atop the Great Wall; tour the Olympic Stadiums; master the art of eating Chinese cuisine; ride 94 floors to the summit of Shanghai; and even learn to speak Mandarin while working to preserve the environment of the world’s oldest empire.
The Global Awareness Seminar Series is brought to you by the Washington Workshops Foundation. We believe today’s self-motivated learners can use in-person, multi-cultural travel experiences to better shape individual identities. Our seminars include educational objectives of service learning, daily life experiences, environmental stewardship, cultural understanding, and citizen exchange - all designed to fit the international world you will one day enjoy.
Washington Workshops Foundation staff have organized and managed hundreds of professional and educational study tours, meetings, corporate incentives, and seminars. Dedicated to creating all manner of truly customized travel, the Workshops Foundation has served government agencies, institutes, universities, associations, private businesses, and individual executives.
Since 1967, the Washington Workshops Foundation - a nonprofit, nonpartisan, private educational organization - has provided experience-based, educational travel programs to highly-motivated, academically-prepared, and inquisitive students from across the United States and around the world. The majority of these programs have brought students and educators to Washington, D.C. for a more comprehensive understanding of leadership, civic education, federal government, U.S. politics, and American History.
