Democracy In Action! Dedicated to getting young people involved in the political and legislative process, we invite students to investigate the United States Congress, the Supreme Court, Embassies, and Executive agencies by meeting with Members of Congress, government officials, diplomats, lobbyists, and professors. Students will also visit the historical and iconic highlights of our nation’s capital.
This six day program seeks to increase citizen participation in the electoral process while increasing students’ knowledge of contemporary events through informative, on site dialogue sessions with leaders from both the federal government and private sectors. To constantly seek out new information, to become involved and to find new answers are the timeless missions of youth and the goals of the Washington Workshops Foundation.
Washington Workshops seminars, while always an enjoyable and memorable experience, are primarily a learning experience, with knowledge and excellence stressed throughout the seminar stay.

The Model Congress is a simulation which offers an opportunity to learn by role playing the difficult task of developing national policy and writing laws. Each evening, students divide into several committees to discuss and draft legislation. On the final evening, completed legislation is reported, debated and voted upon in a special session held in a Congressional committee room on Capitol Hill. Debate, which is governed by modified House procedures and rules, is always highly spirited, thought provoking and very enjoyable. The simulation gives students a firsthand experience of the challenges and rewards of the role of our legislative branch.
